Casa sobre el mar – Atlanterra – (Zahara de los Atunes, Cádiz)

Located in Atlanterra, Zahara de los Atunes, this contemporary coastal residence has been designed to establish a close relationship with its natural surroundings while balancing openness, privacy, and everyday comfort. Set within one of the most sought-after residential communities on the Costa de la Luz, the house reflects a modern architectural approach shaped by landscape, climate, and the experience of living close to the sea.

The design is organised around a mature tree that forms the heart of the home. Rather than treating the existing landscape as a constraint, the architecture embraces it, allowing the tree to become a defining feature of the spatial experience. This relationship between architecture and nature influences the organisation of the house, creating a sense of permanence and connection to the site.

Curved architectural forms guide movement through the home and soften the transition between built space and landscape. Large windows bring natural light deep into the interior while framing views of the surrounding environment. Throughout the house, the boundaries between inside and outside are intentionally softened, creating spaces that feel connected to nature while maintaining a strong sense of privacy.

The swimming pool forms a central element of the outdoor living experience, extending daily life beyond the interior spaces and strengthening the relationship between the house and its setting. Designed for both relaxation and entertaining, the outdoor areas encourage a lifestyle closely connected to the climate, light, and coastal character that define Atlanterra and Zahara de los Atunes.

The layout has been carefully considered to balance openness and retreat. Shared living spaces connect naturally with the exterior, while more private areas provide comfort and seclusion. This approach allows the house to feel generous and welcoming while supporting the rhythms of everyday life.
